I noticed that the vines on one of my "Big Max" plants wuit growing about a week ago, and that two days ago it was a lighter shade of green as compared to the rest of my plants. I checked today after work for squash vine borers but there are none. I unburied the stump on that plant and found it rotted and turned to mush with a yellowish-brown color. I thought that burying the vine was supposed to be a good thing. What caused this? I have been spraying twice weekly with two different types of insecticide combined with daconil to prevent any powdery mildew problems or other diseases.Up until last monday we had been getting rain EVERY day(sometimes over an inch and a half a day.)I started miracle grow foliar feeding once a week for the passed three weeks. About a month ago on that same plant, I thought i had burned the leaves with too much insecticide. the leaves had never recovered and lately the stems to some of those leaves turned yellow. No SVB's though. Believe me i know what that damage looks like. SVB's killed my patches the passed 3 years. No longer a problem since i fpound this site! What caused my stump to rot? Idon't want to lose any other plants.
