My very orange pumpkin is turning more and more green everyday and so are other in my patch. They don't seem to have any soft spots or anything else wrong but the dorky color! It looks so bad I don't want anyone to see them!! Yes, I have pumpkin shame. Please help if you can. This is only my second year growing pumpkins and I didn't have any freaky pumpkins last year so I am at a total loss. Thanks pumpkin people for your time,

OK pumpkin Babe....your best bet is to allow them more sunshine !! Dont shade as much ! this might help, but then it might be too late. To better evaluate your chances, tell me what seeds or what plants they are on...all one plant? Two different plants? What is the genetic background?.....Glenn

Pumpkin babe,,,think mine is getting greener,,,I only have 2 choices,,,pick it,,or let it fininsh going green...It is working from the bottom up on mine,,,where did the green start on yours?Pine trees block the sun after 2:00 p.m here,,but they were helpful this summer as it didnt get the afternoon sun ,,the hottest part of day..It wilted only a couple of times..Hehe,,maybe this means no squash next year,,just pumpkins...

Genetics-- The 12 vines I started with produced just about as many variations. My entrant for the Harvest Festival went from yellow/white to slight orange to now green/gray splotches. It has heavily cantalouped skin, a classic shape, and is hard as rock. Although it won't win any prizes this year for weight(approx. 400lbs) it will be part of next seasons gene pool.(605 LaRue,00) jghsac@yahoo
