Two plants nearly decapitated. Only one cot left on one and the other has both cots left. The first and second leaves have been snipped off clean. I hope to salvage the plants though it may be over them. Could this be cut worm? or something else. Weather has been chilly and rainy since I put them in last Friday. Planning to spray sevin or ambush in the morning.

I have heard reports of birds damaging plants. Also, don't rule out mice, rats, or other critters of the dark. Best to keep the young plants "sheltered".

Kilrpumpkins may be right about thde bird thing. I had black birds in my garden pulling seedlings left and right. I put chicken wire over them and that solved the problem.

If it is cut worm Ambush will work better than sevin.

I don't think it was slugs or snails. No trails or evidence in the soil. Sprayed sevin this morning. No further damage over night at least. Thanks guys for the help.
