I dug two squash vine borers out of my vine today and decided to patch the gap with clay. Just filled in the plant stem with it. Has anybody else experimented with clay?

Natural clays have been used as a curative material, for both man and beast, since time began. It may do as well as any other practice that eliminates air flow.
I have used Redmond Clay in conjunction with AGRO-K's Vigor Cal Phos to treat stem splits. In this case the product was sprayed on and left open, to heal, with the addition, of a fan, to increace air circulation. I have two successes in a row with split stems using this treatment.
