I start with a very diluted fert. within the first days. Even though it's only fish and seaweed, that can cause awful problems on a seedling if not diluted. AleX Noel.

i looked up the Fafard's 4M mix there... i dunno if it looked like anything to start your seeds in, but what do i know? it said it was for potted/hanging plants etc., and it has bark mixed in with it. all i know is that i have used Scotts Potting Soil FOR SEED STARTING which i get at Home Depot for about $3.98 for i think 8 dry quarts (2 Gal.) which, when mixed with 3/4 to 1 gallon of warm water, makes the PERFECT seed-starting medium for me. you don't really wanna use something that is generally potting soil; i think it is too 'heavy' and just not really made for it. but that is just MY opinion. try it on a few practice seeds. anyway, i start my REAL seeds in central NY on or about April 25th for planting out May 1st-May 8th.
