Can someone explain the process after germination in a hot box? What needs to happen after the plant is out of the shell?

I have practiced on 2 seeds. Both seeds were pushing soil by 3 1/2 days. After that I took off the seed shell as soon as the seed was completely out.

I moved the first plant to my garage and placed a shop light about 3" from the top of the pot. My concern is I haven't seen any growth for almost a week. Is it too cold in my garage? Should I keep the new plants somewhere in the house? How long does it take to see new growth? How long does it take for the first true leaf to develop?

I left the second plant in my hot box and lowered the temperature to 70 degrees. I removed the shell last night so hopefully I will see new growth soon.

BH,your garage is likely too cool as you suspected.Keep the seedlings 70 -85 degrees. If they get real cool they can dampen off and its curtains.

BH, I think you are on the correct path to figuring this out!!! Yer garage experiment has led you to know that light (need full spectrum light), w/out heat leads to no growth. I think you will learn lessons soon about heat w/no light!!! I am thinking you will see the plant in yer hot box get way too leggy!!! Bring that shop light into the house (make sure to put full spectrum bulbs in it)...and keep it very close (2-3 Inches) to the top of the new sprouts!!! Hope this helps. Peace, Wayne
