If I germinate my seeds with the paper towel method, plant my sprouted seeds in pots, would they be fine to transport to a friends greenhouse for the light.

MOak, if greenhouse is heated...and not too far away, I would say yes!!! If not heated, and too far away, then NO!!! Also, thinkin that a cloudy day, could promote leggieness problems (long stems). Cold at night will slow, or stop yer lil sprouts!!! Depending on size of sprout pots, you prbly have less than a week to get em in the ground...and I would want to see what my new sprouts look like...EVERY DAY!!!!!! ie, did my buddy forget to water em today? I would suggest the purchase of a dual bulb 4' shop light loaded w/ full spectrum bulbs!!! Keep em close to the top of yer sprouts, 2" or so!! In a 70+ degree environment, take em outside if weather is warm, and sunny!!! Peace, Wayne

I just dont have a good place to set up a light system, The greenhouse is heated and only 3 miles away, I am just worried about the sprouting process being interupted/ i'm not sure how delicate they are at this stage. at what point is it ok to water the pots? should I wait until they pop out of the soil? thanks wayne

Mossyoak, I think if you put the sprouts in a cooler ,they would be fine for the short journey to the greenhouse.

I am not sure what the t5 bulbs are. I do fine with the cheap, regular flourecent bulbs. Just keep them close like Wayne stated.

If you are using peat pots, soak them prior to putting your MOIST starter mix in them. You want the starter mix moist not wet. Squeeze out as much water from the starter mix as you can. By soaking the empty peat pots, they become water logged and will keep the moist starter mix moist for about 5 days, in which your seeds should have popped out in that time. You should not have to water during that time. But, if the starting mix is drying out, you may need to give them a LITTLE water.

Basically, the kind of pot / size of the pot will dictate how soon you will have to water. The key is not to over water them, or they will suffocate.
If you can squeeze out 1 drop of water from you starter mix, you watered too much.
