Does it matter if I use incandescent (white or full spectrum) or fluorescent light bulbs to start my pumpkin plants?

use what ya got. or what you can afford. The sun is cheap this time of year:)

from least to bankrupt would be. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Philips-60-Watt-A19-Agro-lant-Incandescent-Light-Bulb-429480/202762720?N=c5sq#.UY61yMp0ny0

CLf: you may even have this type in a reading light at home they are mostly full spectrum and will work really well

Or Fluorescent T-12 least T-8 better or Best:(what I use) T-5 http://www.homedepot.com/p/Philips-20-Watt-Plant-Aquarium-Linear-Fluorescent-Light-Bulb-392274/100134615?N=c5sq#.UY62Fsp0ny0

just keep the light 3 or 4" away from the plant. Plus don't for get a small fan to move the heat from the bulbs away.
Just get them in the sun as soon as you can.

We use a regular 4 ft shop light with one full spectrum bulb and one aquarium/plant bulb. no more than 2 inches above plant. The flourescent lights are cool enough that the plants can touch the bulb without hurting it. Good luck

Electricians are good guys to know for used lighting. Here in Canada, ever since the big tube florescents are being outlawed and switching to smaller energy efficient fixtures, retail stores and businesses are getting makeovers. There are plenty of metal halide ballasts around, and lots go to the dump.

Flouros won't burn the leaves.
