Aren't the Jiffy blocks small for pumpkins? Good for tomatoes though.
I am against the paper towels. You have to plant them in dirt anyhow so to me it adds an extra step with no benefit other than, yes, you will see that the seed is alive in two days rather than four. I can wait two more days rather than do twice as much work.
For small seeds the trays with the plastic covers are nice. The plastic cover will hold the soil moisture.

I mix up my own soilless seed starting media... been doing it for years... I don’t see a need for me to start seeds on wet paper towel I prefer to let them germinate in soilless media.. won’t change now...
