I do this every year on at least 1 pumpkin. Bat carving is up high on the pumpkin, near top, angled 30-45 degrees, about 6" wide. Placed on my porch, about 5ft from wall & angled toward door, when candle or bulb inside pumpkin is lit, it casts a bat image on the ceiling of my porch over the door, about 18-24" wide by a foot or so.
