Picture of my newphew and I standing next to my nearly 10 ft. tall Amaranth in PA. The stem base was 5 1/2 inches in circumference. Usually these plants are entirely red. Every year I get a few of these plants with green leaves. They are usually taller, and are generally around 9-10 ft. tall. They don't seem to produce as many seeds as the pure red ones. I've seen some that don't produce any seeds at all. The seed heads are also not as soft, and are a bit prickly compared to the red. My plants probably crossed with someone else's plants and this is a hybrid of some sort. This particular plant produce a fair amount of seed; so I'm planting them next year. I've been waiting to get my hands on this picture since Oct. My wife's mom took this in Oct, and she just got the pictures developed.
