This year I was testing out some new tropical varieties of maize. This one seems pretty promising. It's named Olotillo Blanco. It's probably at least 15 ft. (I'm 6'3") and it still growing. I haven't bothered to measure it. I have some growing in NJ and some at my place in NY. In both places I noticed that it often gets red streaks in the stalks. It makes it easy to distguish from Jala maize. If you look closely in the pic, you'll see some tall green plants growing in front of the maize. Those are a new variety of Amaranth that I'm trying from the USDA. They are starting to get tall, and they still don't have any flowers on them.
