Could someone please tell me what they think are the top 25 seed stock for growing proven 1000lbs or more. I can't use all my seeds I've acquired, so in gaing this information I could release some back out to the Public to trade.

The normal way you do it is you list what seeds you have to trade and people make offers. Otherwise this smells sort of fishy. Shannon

I know of no sane grower that would guarantee that their seed would grow a 1000 lb. pumpkin!!! I know of several "prominent" growers who have attempted to grow a Bobier 723 and/or a 845-00 and have ended up with a "very small pumpkin"! It's all about "odds" of growing a very large pumpkin. Some seeds have a better "track record" than others....but no guarantee!! That's what makes this sport interesting!

perhaps a re-phrasing of the post is in order. perhaps he has a bunch of seeds and only wants to keep the "really-producing ones"??? yeah, a reiteration, please...

I agree that no one can tell you what seed will grow over 1000 pounds, but there are some facts available. I have limited this information to seeds that have grown pumpkins over 1200 pounds. Some of these pumpkins are DMG and UOW:
Seed Weights 1200+ 582 Hester 01 1458 842 Eaton 02 1446, 1301.5 1097.5 Beachy 02 1432 1104.5 hester 03 1420.5 783 Daletas 00 1385 805 Pukos 00 1373, 1229, 1201.8 1260.4 Weir 01 1370 723 Bobier 99 UOW 1367.5, 1354, 1242, 1236 664.5 kiggett 03 1353.5 845 Bobier 00 UOW 1337, 1260.4, 1252 961 Daletas 01 1301.5 844 Wykcoff 01 1279.5 763 Biss 03 1268 940 Mombert 98 1262 1068 Wallace 03 1253 695 Handy 01 1247 790 Daletas 00 1245 705 Stelts 99 UOW 1230 1016 Daletas 01 1225.4, 1210 875 Dill 99 1215 876 Mombert 03 1215 1061.5 Ciliberto 01 1213 1180 Daletas 03 1205
Please note, I believe that it is probably the experience, soil and luck of the weather (not the seed) that enabled these growers to maximize the size of their pumpkins.

Go to the link section on bp's home page then click on the aggc site they have a list of the top 40 producing seeds with the heaviest five pumpkin average. Its in the non-member section.. hope this helps. To all new growers like mentioned before the seed is only 10% of the whole picture one has to remember soil 50% of the picture is proably the most important part of growing big pumpkins controlling insects 10% controlling fungal problems 10% controlling weeds 10% aqppling enough water 5% the only part luck is the weather.i'll give that 5% a great seed will not do you any good until you have the rest in order..mark

I seem to recall a thread like this before with the %s and such. And, although its hard to ague with your %s Mark (normal "Winter Disclaimer" [no offense to you personally])I will merely state my opinion of the genetics holding a little more power than 10%. Lets hope, with all the time we spend researching, planning, strategizing, etc. At least you don't have to burst our bubble in the middle of winter when there is nothing else to do but come up with the perfect genetically superior cross (on paper).
