I have those (hot?) seeds and I don't think I could plant them this year. I'm a new grower and I wouldn't like to waste them. The 582 have its number, the 895.5* is coming directly from Brett, the 842 have its number too. E-mail me privately to make offer. Thanks.

This sounds fishy but lets all learn from the past. We don't want to turn on a potential newbe or give any fuel to a guy trying to push our buttoms.

An 895.5 coming directly from Brett and you're not going to use it this season?????? It took more then a simple request to get this seed and to offer it up as trade before it is even recieved? Don't think I'll take this offer, Thanks anyway.

my 842s have a "842" writing on them, black, thin print but no seed number. the 1446s have a "1446" on them, black, thick print but also no seed number. the 582s and 895.5s have both the weight and a individual seed number on them. Martin

Martin, I think my 582 was small, beige, hard-shelled and had both 582 and a seed number on it too. Is that how yours looks? I guess it did! Look at the seed picture....from you by the way. http://bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=16678

Yo Martin...and all others....why the heck would you want to add fuel to the fire by describing in detail the seeds in question for all the world to see? Yeah, duh, no one here would take that info and use it to make fake seeds. You all might wanna try thinking once in a while....

"maybe they are spreading mis-information???" not so loud, Brad! that was a trick in order to see if anyone was going to make a fake seed with the given information!

Thanks for all the private mails that I have received at home, especially from ERIC GERRY...Last year you were very generous with my girl ! and now you give me very good advices. This was my first post, yes, last year I was only reading the other guy's posts and the diaries to learn how to grow BP. I didn't thought that I should introduice myself to make offer and to share seeds that I know (reading your posts) that are good. I thought it would be better to offer the seeds I was given to meet other growers, make contacts for having goods seeds in 3 or 4 years when I would have learn a lot of things and prepared a good patch. I though that the seeds won't be good till 2010 ! Should I post my photo with the 3 seeds (I had a look back on the 842, you are right, this is just written "842" on it) with the pictures from pumpkinguru ... Sorry for all of his, I see that you couldn't imagine that a new grower could be generous too. I contact directly the people who have responded me privately, and I will send them the seeds.
Jean-Pierre.

Jean-Pierre,
Please do not take offense. Folks are always taken back when a new grower (or poster here) produces valuable seeds such as these. We think we know everyone! (kidding)
Properly stored pumpkin seeds can last for years. A brown glass jar with a silica-gel descicant pack placed in the freezer & the seeds will keep until you are prepared to grow them.
Your post might have been taken as a potential set-up for a bad trade offer. So a trap was laid (perhaps in poor taste) without enough data to justify. ;o)
It's winter & we're edgey. Deep breath....SIGH.....LOL

It never ceases to amaze me how some people need to keep things so quiet about seeds...
If I have a genuine seed that came directly from the grower and I post a picture of it then it's done to help somebody else determine if their seed is genuine if they got it from a third party.
It all boils down to this! If you get a seed directly from the grower it is almost certain to be the seed you were looking for. Otherwise you have to "think" (LIPumpkin) about the source you get the seeds from and make a judgement yourself. Don't worry LI, lack of thinking is not a problem during the winter months when we are all just dying to get growing again.

And by the way, I have 20 845Bobier00 seeds to give away to anyone who wants them! LMAO!!!!!
They are actually my 386White02 seeds that look exactly like the original 845 so they must be the same. LMAOEH!

I think I made my point clear Martin...and stand by my post. To describe a seed in detail in this open forum when private emails are as easy as clicking on the name to the left is opening up the seed pool to more fakes...a dis-service to the hobby. By limiting this ID information to private emails you will better protect the growers, the genetic record, and the aftermarket seed swap hobby...G

Glenn, you be right, but take a look at this
http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=28551
and please dont blame Martin As in real life, if there´s a "black sheep" it will have the idea to fake and the know to do so. Hint, read Mikes last post between the lines.
"To trust in or not to trust in" that´s the point.

I kindof feel bad about my participation in this thread too. this is Sophie's father from Belgium and had I known that I would never have posted. I sent them my apologies in private already.
I apologize also to LIpumpkin although I don't think it's wrong if we each have differing opinions about describing seeds. I think each of us should only trade with people we can trust and then there is absolutely no problem with people trying to pawn off a false seed.
I personally will not plant any 845Bobier00 that I just received from Joe Blow!...and I certainly know Glenn that if we swap or trade that your end will be kosher!
If I ever hear of anyone trying to fake a seed I will paint their name on my wall and never forget it!!!!!! Michel
