I now realize this is a bad thing to do, as it could well fuel the fire to fakes being offered in trades.(Just read a previous thread.) I will no longer post seed picture's! Thought it was a part of the growing season and therefore part of a well documented diary. If my actions have caused problems somewhere along the line I apoligize. Perhaps those diary pictures could be erased? Good idea I think??? I will continue to update my diary as it happens, as I know it helps you guys get past winter......
Sincerely
Ben Boyton

I wouldnt worrie about it Boily, If someone was really set on making fakes they wouldnt have to look at this site to do it. After all, how many seeds are floating around out there from certain well name seeds that have passed through peoples hands 2 or 3 times. So you think it would be hard to find out what it looks like?? In my opinion Its not going to be some joe blow off the street come in and make them ether, you can bet its a person thats been in the sport a while that does the fake seed thing to get the seed he wants. Just my opinion. Even a dummy can make a fake seed if he really really wanted to.

I've posted pictures of seeds in my diary too Ben. Like you I never even considered the potential ramificiations. Honest & honorable people aren't likely to think like this without cause. Consider it a compliment to your own integrity.

But if we only exchange seeds with people we know, have met, & trust or who come to us well referred or can provide a verifiable reference & we check that reference, then none of this matters.

Better growers might consider serializing their seeds now if the problem of fakes starts running rampant. Some already have.

Newer growers would do well to remember this thread & consider it gospel.

Though it has happened in the past, I personally don't believe that faking has become rampant.
