Hello, Im a third year grower and seek to break the Australian record. Getting good genetics here is proving to be difficult. If anybody has anything spare that is up to the task it would be aprreciated much, however I have nothing decent to trade in return, but would be happy to pay for any postage, etc. I have an expanded plot of about 800 sq foot, so maybe I'm in with a chance!!!!!!!! Have already ordered some from the free seed list, but will they be up to the job? 650 Gerdes was the best available. If anyone can help my email address is ben@f1.net.au thanks

if you want good genetics- they are out there
all over the place - even in smaller pumpkins.
case in point-
I think the 326.5 Kilbert has some of the best
genetics out there !
there are many others in the same category.
just my opinion

Gordon,

Thanks! I think I'll try one of those this year! The plant that produced this pumpkin(326.5#) was my most aggressive (out of 9 plants), and the fruit was the fastest growing last year! It was planted "way out back" as a pollinator plant, and was basically neglected with very little fertilizer or water. No telling what COULD have been!

Kilr-
I've been meaning to butter you up... er.. Ahhh... um...
ask for some seeds from it. :) I mentioned it because
seeds from that pumpkin are available from this site.
and i would guess that they aren't in high demand but I
think they have genetics as good as anything else out there.

I had a pumpkin that i think falls into the same category
my 365 in 2000. It is an 865 mettler x 471 Hester. The
471 Hester is a 946.5 Geerts x 935 Lloyd. So the genetics
are there but it wasn't an award winning pumpkin- so
nobody wants it.
i'm sure there are 100 more examples out there too.

Gordon,

E-mail me, and we'll set up a "swap"! I have seeds from 11 pumpkins from last year, all with excellent genetics, most people don't want to bother with the mere 200#ers! Ya never know!
