I am wondering why the Emmons 922.5 ( 2001 ) seed is so sought after. I understand other seeds that have a proven record of producing large pumpkins being in great demand, but the 2001 Emmons is untried? Any insight is greatly appreciated.
Thanks Mark

Hi Mark,
I'll take a stab at this one! The 922.5 was grown on the 705 Stelts (producer of the 2000 World Record 1140, and 3 others over 1000#. The Mombert 940(1998)(Mombert grew a 940 in 2000 also, not to be confused!),grew the 2001 World record 1262(among others including a 975 and 996.5 for Ms. Emmons). Even though this seed itself has yet to be proven, there is great potential here! But then again, there are a LOT of good seeds out there! kilr

Right on Kilr, and don't forget that it was harvested in early Sept. for the Puyallup fair (set a new WA State Fair record) probably was the runt of the Emmons litter. It had a fairly nice orange yellow color, and (My favorite) she had white to cream colored seeds!

Mark, Kilr hit the nail on head, this seed has a combaination of some of the very best genetics in the world. It is a combo of 2 of the 3 seeds to ever top 1200 pounds. Tom

Mark, This is the fastest growing pumpkin ever recorded in the Pacific Northwest....started mid April I believe. The previous Fair record was set by Joel Holland the year before at 808 pounds. It was harvested one month before the GPC weigh-off as Gerry said...sooooo, if planted ten days later, it ought to break 1000# with one leg in a sling!!
