I was wondering if any seed experts could answer a question. I'm looking to grow the biggest pumpkin I can, but I want a nice looking orange pumpkin too. What would be the top 4 seeds in your opinions for a nice looking big orange pumpkin. Thanks for the help. Jim

Well, if your looking at the seeds page on this site as a source you may want to try the following:
421 Mongeon 466 Deary 444 Desrosiers
Even though these pumpkins were all in the 400 pound range, they all have great color and decent genetics.

So would a Mombert 940-98!!!! Then the probability of him getting his hands on one is not very likely. Until this past year, EVERYTHING that Kirk grew was very orange!!

Any crosses with 801.5,705 Stelts or Calai 846 genes should produce nice, bright orange pumpkins.(Or anyhing else with that wonderful 567.5 Mombert in it!) I think there's still some free seeds from my 326.5 (Ciliberto 801.4xStelts 801.5), and 382 (Stelts 801.5x LaRue 887) available on this site. The 326.5, though neglected, was the fastest growing of all my pumpkins with a C. of 70" in 20 days! The 382 was culled in August, from the plant that grew my 634.5. Can't beat those free BigP seeds!

Kilr, Let's not forget, the 723 Bobier has 567.5 Mombert on the male side. It does produce some nice orange pumpkins, but others from the 723 aren't quite as orange. For example, the 1153 Eaton and 1064 Mombert. The 845 Bobier was the same cross as the 723, and grew the 1260.4 Weir, which I think was a squash. So, not everything with 567.5 in it is wonderfully orange. I do agree though, if you're lookig for orange anything with the 567.5 in it would be your best bet. Tom
