First Timers Take Three

Arroyo Grande, CA,USA

Brenda & I learned a lot this year
Now what is one to do....

Buy, trade for the hottest seeds, look for traits which I'm not good enough to know, or prepare the soil everything else to please the growth of the plant. And the answer is yes... but what part, soil, time of year , temp, water, seed, seed crosses, water temp. etc.... the list go's on and on,

What really interest me is who do I trust and who i don't, we all know who the top ten growers are but most of the time we can't find there e-mail unless they post a notice of so kind.

Would be nice to be able to sent these people a e-mail, if you do not hear back from them so be it. But you tried.

Now there is lot of old timers out there that don't like our First timers etting into your game why because we ask the wong quetion and have no idea what we are doing. I wiill be the first to admit ny first notice on this site was to BUY seeds from the top seeds every yes I was dreaming but I didn't know better some of you let me know this which was great. I need to refi, do I have a Mustang, etc. I didn't you guys were asking for the same thing we were. It's ok. There is a lot of you out there that are very nice and are willing to help the first timer's. I don't know if we have a great seed but, Brenda and I grew a 1179.0 uow T. Kline 735 Pukoss,01 x1016 Daletas 01.

we try to grow a 1196.0 ouw Hampton 723 bobier 99 x 875 dill 99 which didn't make but we have a seed left which were will grow this year.

The 1179 Kline, 735 Pukos 01 X 1016 Daletas 01 produce our 575 Cavanaugh 05 now keep n mind that we grew five plants on this plant because we did'nt know what we were doing.

How many of you out there grew a 575 your first year??? Yes we try hard but made a lot of mistakes, But these plants all were 15% heavey.

Planning on growing 8 plants this year, why because we have the room and my wife loves it. Enough said.

Have seeds for most, what would you like us to try.

Randy,
I'd say that you can trust 99% of the people on Big Pumpkins.com
as for what seeds to look for. Honestly most of the seeds out there are good and have good potiential.
People who have offered up their seeds here on BP, have good seed and they are just being friendly and trying to get their seeds out there. Take them up on their offer.
Offer to send them a SASBP... and ask where you can find a picture of thier pumpkins.
look in peoples diaries and find pictures and crosses of pumpkins that you like, then ask then graciously for some seeds. Most are willing to give you some.
Join a few clubs, especiallly the one in your area. I think all of them distribute seeds. Most all the seeds will be good some will be top notch. Find growers in your area and don't be afraid to contact them and ask for advise about what seed they think are good ones.
best wishes

gordon, Rogne,

Thanks For the feedback. One should not have a beer or two and try to post a letter, working real hard on our soil right now, man this hobby is not cheap.

Good luck to all,

Thanks
