Columbia South Carolina here. Last year was my first year an grew a 582 McKinney direct from Dill's seeds ($12) Got it to about 100 pounds. May have been too warm. Anybody growing above 500 pounds down here? Got any seeds to trade? I have some of the McKinney seeds. Thanks, Phil

What was the cross on the 582 McKinney ? I looked on last years Dill's premium seed list and didn't see it there.

I had a Newbie grow our 281.6 to 500+ pounds in SC this summer. It was a late set too. He had planted a couple 950.4 Boyton seeds as they are considered very heat tolerant but the heat destroyed both of them.
So it appears that my 281 is very heat tolerant. Send me an email for a few.

The "582 McKinney" packet was shipped direct from his Canadian address. I took a picture of the packet. I'll open a grower diary and hang the picture there. Thanks for all the great emails! Phil

Send a SASBE to me - and I'll fill it with plenty of big ones that can handle southern droughts AND the mistakes of a first year grower.... Had one vine grow 4 pumpkins - 300lb, 2-200+lb, and one 180lb.. So I guess it would've made a 900lb IF I'd culled the others **grin**
I have seeds from my own - and plenty of extras from other (more experienced) growers....

To all who replied, a special thank you. I posted a picture of the seed packet I received from Howard Dill in the diary section. I also posted pictures of the garden plot and appreciate the many emails telling me how to improve the size of it. I'll get the bubble packs in the mail this weekend! What a great community! Phil
