Hi all. Looking for a couple of wierd seeds. One is a Tomato Tree. Native to the China area. It's a huge tree (25' X 25' on a trellis) that produces thousands and thousands of cherry tomatoes. The other is the Fluted Pumpkin. Native to Africa. It is grown in horrible conditions (high heat, awful soil, extreme drought) and used for it's leaves, not fruit. I saw these in Disney World. I asked the tourguide, he said the seeds for both were gotten from people in the native countries. They are very common there, but virtually unintroduced here. If anybody has info, that'd be great. Thanks, AleX Noel.

MN, it's amazing. You'll have a great time. I went on that behind the seeds tour, and walked right by the tree. If you get on the tour, and your guide has glasses, and is from NC, and specializes in pest management, mention my name, he may remember. I should've taken a tomato, but couldn't!
Turken, I'll look at that.
Rsoccer, They had some new trees growing there. The huge one was 15 months old. They said the smaller trees had much bigger fruits. That could have been the same kind, just younger. Save any seeds, or where'd you get seeds last year? Thanks, AleX Noel.

That's not the one, interesting though Turken. That one seems a little more like a berry tree, with tomato like berries. The Disney one was tomatoes, no doubt just by the looks. Thanks, AleX Noel.

It was disappointing to find out that there is no tomato tree, just tree tomato, a different plant, like the one Turken showed. It's not really tomato. It's possible to have a huge tomato plant that produce thousands of tomatoes but it has to be grown hydroponically.

They had it when I went a week ago. I know it was closed for redoing last year. Yes, they have the pumpkins. They have some prizewinners growing off the ground, and some AG's doing O.K. The plant was a mess though. I'm not talking weeds or disease or that, but they could triple their best of like 475 down there if they got onto this site. They have all the cool stuff you'd ever want. It was hydroponically grown tall_sunflower. Is their no strain that gets at least somewhat tree like though? Nothing on the fluted pumpkin? Thanks for all the info, AleX.

Oh. That's too bad Shannon. E-mail me if you want some pictures, I have a bunch. Actually, there are some old ones in my 04 grower diary. AleX Noel.
