This is my first attempt at growing pumpkins. I first started with the intention just to grow some jack o lantern pumpkins for my kids to pick and carvefor Halloween. Now, I'm learning the excitement of the competition in growing the world's largest pumpkin and would like to know if anyone out there has some seeds they would like to share with me. I went from living in an apt with just a patio to now having a 1/4 acre for my backyard with so much opportunity to grow back there. I'm also confused on the different names of the seeds. Could someone please explain

Nearly all competition growers grow Dill's Atlantic Giant seeds. Each pumpkin is named after the grower, weight and year it was grown. For example, I grew a 457 pound pumpkin last year. Anyone who plants seeds from this pumpkin is said to be growing the 457 Desrosiers 1999. These seeds and others are available on our Free Seeds page on this site.

Thank you for clearing that up for me. I will check out the free seeds page and get started with this.
