Im looking for a pumpkin plant that doesnt get very big. But still gets good size pumpkins. I want to save seeds every year, but I dont want to pollinate. I want a good holloween pumpkin or pumpkins. I dont have alot of space on where I want to grow these pumpkins its about 8x8. So if anyone has a pumpkin in mind please share your knowledge. Thanks for your time.

The best you will be able to do is field pumpkins. Even those plants get bigger than 8 X 8, so I am not sure of which direction you will be heading with seed.

You'll need to look for a bush or semi-bush variety...definitely not an AG. Good luck, BF

I think you could grow an A.G. plant in a 13' X 13' area, and possibly get a 200-300+ lber., with good soil and good plant/pumpkin management. I'd grow it in a flag pattern.

What do you mean by flag pattern?

I am sure you can grow in 13X13, I am growing in about 15X8, it is about 200 lbs, about 45 days old, nothing great, but will impress most people not on this site

Josh. The Flag Pattern is where you only allow the Side Vines to grow on one side of the Plant. This allows the plant to grow almost along the edge of the growing area and all the Side Vines on one side of the Plant grow into the alloted space.

I have a limited patch this season (20x 18) and 5 plants in it. What I have had to do with 3 of the plants is turn the main vine around by 180 degrees. It is pretty easy, when it gets to the edge of the patch, I just move them a little every afternoon. I have successfully turned them all back toward the stump and then set fruit.
My two wyatt's wonders have set fruit about 18 feet from the stump, so I turned them 90 degrees. If you can get a 13x13 patch, just run the main along the edge and train secondaries to run parrallel to the main.
