Guess the weight. My pumpkin is grown from a 721 Larson seed. The 721 Larson is a 695 Handy X 898 Knauss cross. The 721 Larson weighed 16% over the chart. The 898 pollinator grew a pumpkin that was 20% over the chart. The current measurements are 137.5 - 75.5 - 73 or 286", or 497 lb. on the 2005 chart. The weigh-off will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30th at 11:00 here in Cheyenne. You can see photo's of the pumpkin under Beet (stellern) in the diary section.

The closest guess to the actual weight of my pumpkin will win an unopened pack of two 1233 Reiss pumpkin seeds. Please post your guess here. (Last year when I did this, some people sent their guesses via e-mail) In the event of a tie, the first person to guess the closest weight is the winner. I will post the actual weight by 7:00 PM Eastern on Saturday.

Well, the results are in. My pumpkin ended up taping out to 500 pounds. I honestly thought it would go between 525 and 550. The scale indicated differently. It weighed an incredibly disappointing 413 pounds.

As I scrolled down the guesses, I came up with Tony I from Ohio with a guess of 438. Tony, send me your address and I'll send you some 1233 Reiss seeds. Congratulations.

The rest of our Wyoming weigh-off went great, with a new state record. I'll post the results right now on the weigh-off board.
