Jordan, how big of a pumpkin did you grow this year?, why would someone give you a good seed. when you grow something 800 lbs, you might get some nice person to send you a quality seed. You begged all year for all the best seeds, post after post, after post. I am sure you mean no harm, but this gets old, try getting your patch(s) in tip top shape, grow a big one, don't be rude and pushy, and good thing will happen

I hope this isn't taken wrong..You have to pay your dues building soil, learning how to grow, Fungicide and Insecticide programs, pruning etc.... Until those things are second nature almost all the seeds that are offered by the growers on BP are more than adequate to grow 500 + lb pumpkins. Great seeds don't mean World Record Pumpkins. Knowledgeable growers grow World Record pumpkins (with a little luck). Jordan set some goals for the next few years that are attainable (500 lbs) it takes time to get good at growing these fruit.

(Rolls eyes) It's always someone who never goes into the chatroom that thinks we are being nasty. I'm in chat everyday and the number of times I've seen you in chat in the last month is 0 scoops. Until you've had a good chat session with a heavy hitter ruined by his pestering you can't judge! Until you are just chatting with your friends and be interupted by his rudeness and pushy ways you have no clue. until you are at an auction and... well hopefully you get the picture.

Jordan, take a look at the GPC list in the next couple weeks and look to see how many 1000+lbers are grown on seeds most have never heard of or considered growin. It'll be more than you think. You don't have to have a highly sought after seed to grow a monster.
You should spend 20 bucks to join the GVGO to get partial AGGC access if you don't have it. I know you're a kid but 20 bucks isn't that much money any more. I'm sure you'd enjoy it. Maybe you could get a membership for Christmas. You'll also get a bunch of good seeds in the deal.

Excellent suggestion, Pharmer...Jordan, that might be the best Christmas present you could ask for...excellent set of seeds came my way last year with my GVGO membership, and more excellent than that is the knowledge available to me with my AGGC access. Peace, Wayne

DMT The short bus shots are being nasty. I don't have to go to a chat room to know this! And even if I had spent a lot of time in the CHAT ROOM, it's still wrong! Don't read what he has to say,it not like he's talking over you is he? Stop responding to him and he will go away. Scoops

Thanks to MrD&Me I got hooked up with the GVGO this year which gave me access to the AGGC partial site. I thought the obsession of growing these things was bad but that AGGC site has me TOTALLY obsessed! I've learned tons about the seeds out there and have totally overloaded my feable brain with info. As far as the heavy seed grows big pumpkins theory...maybe so in some cases but think about the ones like the 723, 805, 845, or 846. All very much unattainable now but those not so great weights grew a whole bunch of big pumpkins!!!

Try a 652 Pukos 2000 seed, which in my opinion is just as good if not better than the 805 Pukos, but has hardly been planted, which I am sure will give the 805 a running for the weight if grown by experienced growers and maybe a rookie or two....

The grower makes a seed great but a great seed won't make a great grower. Learn more as others have said, by the time you get good enought to hit some big numbers the seeds you want now will all be gone and a new batch of great seeds will be out there for ya if you have proven yourself.

Jordan, you have been repeatedly invited to join the Pacific Giant Vegetable Growers (in your own back yard). With the annual membership you not only get 3-4 quality newsletters, you are going to get 25-50 of some of the top seeds available. Come to Aurora/Canby this Saturday to meet the crew and start building your pumpkin relationships. If you've got a pumpkin, bring that too.

Jordan,
Take Jim's advise, Last year I got 37 packets of seeds. They put out a great newsletter.
This was my first year growing and I had a great mentor and learned a lot. But the biggest thing I learned, is I don't know everything I need to know, and I won't know it for quite a few more years.
Join the PGVG. Go to the weigh-off, meet the growers from your area. And most of all LISTEN.

Jordon,
Jim Sherwood, and Milford from CT. Summed up what you need to do, if you are willing to listen , and learn it is the way to your success, you seem like a good kid, and persistent, you will need both to reach your goals. good luck, and hang in there. Roger
