I am looking for seed that have a good track record in a hotter climate. Any recomendations and offers would be appreciated. I have some good seeds to trade. These are for a fellow grower to send to his hunting freinds in Kansas. Thanks . Steve

Anything of mine will grow. If it can survive the blistering heat in Ca, like my 922 last yr in 114* heat for two weeks. I think that and others qualify

Steve,
a couple of seeds have done well in Kanas ... my 835 from 2004 (900 Sandvik x 963 Stucker) produced two state records in a row in 619.5 lbs in 2005 and 680.5 lbs in 2006 for Doug Heathman. A few weeks later in 2006 Doug broke it again with a 691.5 lb pumpkin off my 932.5 from 2005 seed (1225 Jutras x self)

I have some 835 and 932.5 seeds left but not many. Let me know if you want some.
Honestly I think most seeds/plants can adapt fairly well to the heat ... I don't think there is any thing special about my 835 and 932.5 but they've done well for Doug.

The 621 Zuhlke is a great seed for hot conditions. All of my plants last year suffered wilt except for that one.
Ask around Steve and see if anyone has one to trade with you.

Gordons seeds did real well for me , In o6 i had to shade the new growth on both plants to keep sun from burning them up. The 05 didnt do that?? I grew both on about 250 sq ft. ea. The 691.5 was pollinated on 104 degree day . Ive got lots of both seeds if you would like ? Doug H.

lol@ Brad.I looked around in my seed box and what did I find 621 Zuhlke's . ha ha It's good to know the 621 did well in the heat.
Gordon: I have your 835 seed from the seed swap we did that year. I will pass it along and maybe it will grow the next Kansas record. Thanks for the info.
Thanks for all the input. I have located a couple of the 850 Boyton seeds also.I should be all set. Steve

I've got a few left from my 657 (1011 Beachy x 501 Fawcett) that I grew last season. It was the new Texas State Record for '06. Won't have any info about progeny until after the '07 growing season, but should be pretty well acclimated to the heat that Kansas might offer. Let me know if you are interested! jmccune74@aol.com
