I got a seed from Joel Holland from his 1,086. It has been through a tornado, 2 hail storms, and two overdoses of nitrogen. It finally started to grow again in mid-august. I got a pumpkin on it that is 20 days old and ott's at 70 lbs today. I wont be huge, because the season is short, but I am going to let it go as long as I can. After each one of these incidents I thought it was dead, then it came back and something else would kill it. So if anybody wants seeds that are indestructable let me know. If you are a decent grower I will even pay for the bubble and postage just to see what someone can do with them.

Maybe it is just the seeds in general, that these are hearty plants.

No, the 1086 is special. ;-) Mine survived a 2-4,D attack from my neighbors, and came back to go real heavy for my fair fruit at 604.5. That would have been my best, but there is a much bigger one still in the patch.

I was thinking about this, and I am pretty sure that I am hooked on this pumpkin thing. When the tornado came, instead of staying in the tornado shelter I had to poke my head up to see if my pumpkin plant was going to be ok. I saw it get torn up, leaves flying in the air, vines whipping all around and breaking off, the hoop house landing almost a mile away. It was horrible, the most terrifying site. My wife asked if it did any damage to the house, I said it is almost 1 mile away, the hoop house that is.

Hey Pastor, was it you that needed the furnace last winter? I was wondering how that turned out. I may have missed some posts. Been to busy. I am sure the lord provided.

Yeah we ended up getting a forced air propane one. I had to rewire the house and replumb the house to get the thing in. In all I think we spent about $15,000. Had to take out a 2nd mortgage to make it work. But we have heat and a/c.

Hey Pumpkin Pastor, Can I get some of those seeds if you have any extras? I will definitely give them a good test to see if they are capable of dieing. lol I am having a rough week with my patch and am so close to weigh-off.

Hi Pastor, I would like to try your "indestructible seed' here in my hardy tropical Malaysian climate, if you can spare me some seeds.
