Well I have been looking thru all the diary's (feel like a spy) and I see that on 9/1/2007 Dean c from minnesota has a 1407 hemphill growing, he says this plant made it look easy growing big & he plans on growing it again next year.

The 1407 Hemphill 06 [1068 wallace x 1176 hemphill]. The 1176 Hemphill 05 [842 eaton x 1109 larue]. I also saw that it measured over 1500 pounds.

Ed calls the seed the 1500+ Hemphill 06. It was 1068 X 1171 Hemphill 05. Ed is selling them for $50ea to stop the "seed traders" as he calls them from hoarding the seed. He is a real nice fellow and If you are a serious grower, you may be able to get him to send you one.

So, I guess now if we think a pumpkin is heavy, we can add our own weight to the final tape. Ineteresting.

I believe Ed didn't list the pumpkin on the AGGC, because he refused to call it the 1407 est. You know, it likely did weigh more than that but you are right Ron, it is interesting. Ed told me it taped 407". Is there anything decent growing on one of these seeds this year?

I was wondering why it was never weighed myself, anyone know why it wasnt? Thats a awful big pumpkin not to get weighed and claiming it went over 1500 plus. For 50 bucks a crack for a seed it would have been nice to see what she actually weighed. Steve, if you get a chance send a picture my way, id like to see what this monster looks like.

I communicated with Bill Northrup last winter. He is a close neighbour. Bill witnessed the growing of this pumpkin all season and says it was as big as he says. Ed is a first class guy and a retired dairy farmer. The pumpkin went down quickly so it could not be weighed. I think we can all relate to that! If any one is interested I have a picture of the 1407 with Dawn Northrup in the background.

Looking at the AGGC, Mr. Connolly grew a pumpkin, off the 1403 Hemphill this year, that was estimated at 1288 lbs.
