Yo, Joe? This is a question that can take a lot of strokes to answer.......Best bet is to pick what you like in a pumpkin to grow, pretty, orange, round, ugly and heavy, Green? Thats the choices....and theres more....Ohio seems to grow well with some great choices of seeds. Snuggle up to growers there they can show you allot, specially this time of year.....Look up Dave Stelts........I think he grew this year......lol He can point you in the right direction.

That could be a whole book. The names correspond to the growers that produced them, while the number is the weight.

What is good depends on what you want...nice shape, color, size, wall thickness, etc.

As we say most of the time, "this aint no beauty contest" so if you agree, look for seeds that produced large offspring and went heavy.

"going heavy" means that the actual weight was more than the estimated weight. The estimates can be found at http://gvgo.ca/downloads/2007_ailts_landry_benchmarks_summary.pdf
The chart references the OTT (over the top) size. OTT is the sum of biggest circumfrence + biggest ground-to-ground from side to side + biggest ground-to-ground stem end to blossom end. Going heavy implies that the walls were thicker than the average fruit of that size. Which is of course desireable.
