Hi, I've just decided to give this a try, I saw on another post that I can get free seeds, are those for the giant pumpkins? I'll send an SASE if that will help. Also, I don't understand what the numbers are that are in front of the seed lists? Mona Lisa

Mona Lisa,
3 postings down on this message board is a offer of free seeds. And all up and down this board are offers of free seeds. All's it takes is a nice note and a self adresses bubble with postage.
Yes, they are for giant pumpkins (also known as AG, or Atlantic Giants)
The numbers are the weight of the pumpkin, followed by the name of the grower, followed by the year it was grown. (1000 Smith 07)
Good Luck in 08

Thanks Kenny, It seems a little overwhelming and I just read a terrible article on how disappointing this can be when the bottom rots and the weather is bad, and competitors or neighborhood children sneak in your garden and kill your pumpkin! It's a lot to take in. Mona Lisa

Hi LIpumpkin! Sounds like Eddyz has a fan club! You have room to grow giant pumpkins on Long Island? I thought space was tight in New York? I've only visited once before. It was very exciting. San Antonio is still my favorite place to vacation, but I did enjoy New York. Nothing like floating on the river boats enjoying a fajita dinner, drinks, then fried ice cream for dessert. Warm soft winds, mariachi bands, all the colors and long slow days. I am from Dallas, but San Antonio is the best.

If you can't poke a squash guru, who can you poke? ha-ha If you have to be famous for something, it might as well be squash. Did I read that there isn't much difference in squash and pumpkins? email on it's way. Thank you. Mona Lisa
