i probly well not have much luck ive never growed them brfore but is there any great tips out there for me.... i already know thay love the heat.

Cueball, try this website www.giantwatermelons.com they have some really great seeds. The Carolina Cross seeds are the ones you want to plant if you want a big one. Try to keep only 1 watermelon per plant, they also send you some tips when you recieve your seeds. I grew a 154 lber this year with very little effort. Good Luck Jeff

Cue theres some really good watermelon growers that post here. Im sure someone will give you good advice on here. Theres some growers outta Kentucky who know there stuff and well probally hook ya up with some great melon crosses. Id help ya out but im new to melons for size.

so ya think it would be a good idea to build a hot house frame to cover it somthing 5 high by 12x12 ? how big does a single giant water mellon plant get? do i kneed to trim it?

HI cue iam Danny.In the early spring , yes i would cover it. Remember watermelons like the heat, so give it to them. My plants got to be about 15 x 15. Now i only grew a 179 lber but iam still learning.
I have been told not to trim the vines. I think you increase your odds of diease. I also didnt bury the vines.
