A person makes a post seeking a certain seed. Since you have that seed you email the person and let him know you have the seed if he has a decent trade. He offers you a nice trade BUT wants you to send your seed (the one he was seeking) to him first before he sends what he has to trade. Is this the proper way to do a seed exchange? Is it normally accepted to make exchanges in the manner?

So far all the trade that I have made were done in good faith. Both parties mailed the respective seeds to the other. So far, so good.

Well that seems quite oppisite of what i think should be done if someone"s asking than they should send first, & if they dont trust you !! why in the world should you trust them !! Let them find some other sucker , Dont let it be you !!!!

Sometimes when I trade with people I don't know, I get the seed I requested first and confirm it with the original grower before I send my end of the deal out. Reason is simple. I traded away 5 good seeds, really good seeds for a 567 Mombert a few years back. I send my seeds right away and received a bogus seed in return. I went to get my seeds back and the SOB claimed he had already traded my good authentic seeds away to someone else. I played the sucker once and will not do it again. It is also the reason why I write an ID number on each Hester seed that leaves my house. Takes away any possible question as to its authenticity. Needless to say, there are reasons for doing it in what seems a backwards way.

If I ask for a trade, I always send the seed first and a SASBP. They can verify the seed then send me mine, or they can send the original seed back. I've never had a problem with it.

its like tom said.
dont trade with people you dont know. period
to many people involved with damaged reputations.
better to get the seed you want from the original grower and failing that? at least get it from someone who you can trust or a reputable club at auction.
sadly thats the way to be assured of what your getting.
