Eddy, we need to try the pollen thing through snail mail this year, I want to give it a try and I think it can work, Im thinking if we can pick males that will open the following day it should work,,,, if we get the males early enough in the morning for pollinating. Timing will play a key roll I think.

Im sure that sending males over night will probably cost us a arm and a leg Eddy, but dont worry about that cause you can afford mine and your shipping cost no problem!!,,,LOL

Attempted this last year. Picked males 24hrs before they opened. Sent by fedex that morning overnight. Attached small tubes that hold water with a rubber seal commonly used on roses to the stems. As I recall the intended female opened late in the day and the set did not take. The concept should work. Timing is key and lack weekend delivery needs to be considered. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=68945

Brooks Yes I think we'll give it a go, But we need to do the overnight, I'll UPS them to you. as Pap said, it's a crap shoot with the mail service, But with the pending cross of 1068 X 705 and reverse, how could you not try. Thanks for the info skip Eddy

It almost worked, Skip. I'm glad we gave it a shot. If i didn't have the work callout, I would have been able to pollinate about a half hour or so earlier. It ended up getting pollinated at around 11am, but other than that conditions were good. Who knows, maybe it was destined to abort no matter what. Still worth a shot.
Eddy & Brooks: From what I can tell, it may be a lot easier for one of you to root a clone from one of the first secondaries, and try to ship that. If you get something rooted and cut in mid-june, i'm sure it could be shipped, growing and flowering around normal pollination time, or just a touch late.
