just plant in dirt and they will come in time. I soak them in moist paper towel for a couple of days and then in the dirt and it has been two days and they are getting little roots started. Boy am i excited.

We just started ours too, I put about 20 seeds from our #101 in a moist paper towel place them on a saucer plate put them in a zip lock bag and set em over a floor register. of the 20 10 had sprouted in 3-1/2 days. I took the ones with the longest "tails" and planted them in 4" p-pots.

I'm gonna try a Brinkly and a Hunt watermelon seeds this year, I'm in the same boat as you cueball, I cant never seem to get one to grow, I grew one of them Glenn Andrews watermelon seeds last year and the stump rotted on me right when I had one going at golf ball size. I didn't bury any of the vines so it was curtains for it. Seems like its a lot harder to get the secondary vines to grow roots for some reason, anyone else have this trouble, or does it usually take a little longer for them to grow roots then a AG plant does? I know I have had them buried for a while and still cant remember seeing roots growing from under the nodes. I know I ain't doing something right so don't feel bad Cueball,I cant grow em ether, lol.

Ive been growing melons for a couple of years just for eating and I really havent seen roots on the secondaries, but I no expert. Maybe post on the Watermelon board and see who answers..Watermelon seeds need warmth to germinate, if the soil is cold the seed will just sit there and eventually rot. Start outdoors when soil is warm or start inside with bottom heat 80degrees give or take. Hope this helps. Croley
