How "thick" is your wallet, Wayne? The last 705 Stelts went for a "grand"!

Personally I wouldn't spend 50 bucks on a seed. I'm with Wayne if I had to spend that kind of money I would take up a different hobby. Lucky there are still growers out there that will give you a hot seed or trade with you. Things are getting out of hand and can only imagine what a 723 will go for this year. A better idea instead of those auctions is a lottery draw, ticket costs 5 bucks. In my opinion you would raise a lot more money and a lucky grower will get a chance to grow it, not one with the deepest pockets.

I learned my lesson! After spending "big bucks" on the Bobier 723, Mombert 940-98, and Holland 879....only to have them produce nothing larger than 400#....I learned my lesson! Everyone of my "free" seeds out produced those "big name" seeds! Go figure!

If getting good seeds come down to how deep your pocket is there will be lots of people who cannot afford to even enjoy this great hobby. The cost of fertilize and pesticide can be enormous.I do understand that there will always be that HOT seed that draws a premium price, but as long as there are quality seeds at a reasonable price more people are likely to try their hand at growing.

Hay Gang, We have Premium seeds and will trade for FREE. I have grown "muts" that have way out produced the "Silver bullets". Free is better, then when you dump a seasons worth of sweat, water, fertilizer and secret potions on it your not so bummed when you only break your personal best. Because the seed was given freely as an honest trade!
My thoughts on paying for seeds.......

I really like Drew's idea of a lottery...If everyone registered here put in two bucks Big pumpkins could run the lottery and get Charlie's pumpkin seeds for the lottery. Or any other pumpkin that might come along! Chuck
