Is this seed possible to get? Who is Mr. Knauss ? what does he go by on this site? is it best to just go with a cross with the 898 in it? no more 898 Knauss seeds left? I would like to get one if possible to obtain.

Not sure if you will be lucky enough to track down another 898. There may be a few left out there. I have some from a selfed 898 that I grew a couple of years ago. It went 826 pounds. My email is nedsand@ptd.net if you may be interested.

Good luck finding one...they're rare to get hands on. Low seed count as I remember.

Richard, after you weigh your pumpkin at Stillwater you will be a member of the SCGA club. At that point you will get a package of seeds that would make any seasoned grower drool. There are a ton of world class seeds available right from the club (free when you join). No searching needed.

Richard I can't give you the 898 seed, but if we can figure out a way, I know of a couple 898's being grown right now, so I'm sure a clone could be done and you will have one for the spring Eddy

I don't know anything about cloning? I'm thinking selfed instead of a remake might be the way to go. Possible, what do you do, put a leaf with stem in water over the winter?

I was able to aquire a 898 last winter, so never say never. They were origionally distributed threw the NY club seed distribution, so you may start by polling some of their members.
