There was no new world rcord set in 2008. Jake Van Kooten is the world champion with a 1536.5 and Steve Connolly had the largest fruit that was disqualified for a split, it weighed 1568.5.

Joe Jutras is the world record holder. Jake Van Kooten earned world champ recognition for 2008. Joe Jutras was world champ in 2007. 2 very different means of recognition here.

I had heard from a family member that they saw on the news one weighing 1800 pounds. I looked on the internet and found it but cann't from where it was or who it was. I'll try to find it again and write back.

I found it .It was Steve Connolly of Mass. But it was just estmate and later weighed in at 1568. But was disqualified for a cut in it.
