I'm looking for giant seed from pumpkins grow in the Intermountain/Inland Empire/Columbia Basin regions. I'm a newbie giant grower hoping to cross regional seed from pumpkins grown close to my geo climate,(Moses Lake),if there is such a place. lol. Anyway, any growing tips would be great!

Lundy, despite what you may hear from some growers, I don't believe there is any such thing as regionalized seeds.

If it's a good seed it should have no problem in a variety of climates, within the general tolerance of these pumpkin plants. You'll hear some growers say that a certain seed is more heat tolerant than others. Given that these statements are usually based on 2 or 3 plants being grown, I doubt their statistical significance. One particular plant will usually do better (or worse) in any given year for a grower. Most growers do not treat each plant with complete equality, and some variations will exist in the soil from plant to plant.

Get your soil right, treat the plant well, and the particular seed will not be that important.

Lundy, check out our site www.pgvg.org. We are a club of growers situated in the beautiful PNW. Each year we give out in excess of 40 quality seeds to our members for just such an endeavor. We also support all our members with quality newsletters, meetings and events. Check us out!
