They are called Atlantic Gaints developed by Howard Dill.

I think he meant what last name goes with the 896 and the other seeds...but i could be wrong....i believe it is Bob Wells, so it would be the 896 Wells and so on...but i could be wrong..that is how i interpreted it.

Thanks very much bob....Got your seeds in the mail today 5/23/01 1:00 pm I lightly filed one each of the seeds with a nail file....Wet a paper towl and put them in it and put them into a ziper lock bag and onto the top of the stereo reciever where its warm! As soon as they sprot i will put them into there own large container and when they have there 5 leaves i will put them into the spot where they will grow. I am going to grow the whole plant under 4 mill plastic. I know its late....But....I can grow them a little longer under the plastic. Please if you would like send me your E-mail so i can let you know the progress OK!! One thing i did notice was that the 896 wells had a black spot towerds the smaller part of the seed...Is that ok ....will it sprout anyway? And the two 483 wells had been sliced on the side...Is this ok? The 519s looked the best! Later*

eagan... one of my 896's I started was almost totaly black and it is doing fine. When a pumpkin splits or is opened to air it begins to rot. The 896 split on the bottom I did not know about it for a few days. Shortly after removing the 896 seeds I washed the ones with black on them in hrydrogen peroxide, it cleans off any fungi. The 483 should germinated in less than 36 hours, my 3 did. The hull on a seed only propects it untill germintion as long as the embryo is good a seed should be fine. I would transplant much earlier than at 5 leaves. I put my out the year when they were 8 days old the first true leaf was about 1 inch. One more thing most people say "wet" paper towel I find a "squeezed out" paper towel has the correct amount of moisture for germaination. I had 24 for 24 last year and 20 for 21 this. In 98 I got them too wet and had a stinky pile of rotten seeds...Bob pumpkinpicker@hotmail.com kept me updated thanks
