I am dealing with commercial seed this year so I am trying to get my "seeds in a row" for next year. I would love to try seed from anywhere with proven genetics. If anyone is willing to help, please let me know. Is there a reason why bubble envelopes are preferred? Also, I am willing to wait for your 2009 harvest, but like I said, I am trying to plan for next year because the fall and winter may be hectic with baby #3 on the way. thanks. justin Mercersburg, PA

Justin, the bubbleopes are to protect the seeds from those cruel folks that work for the USPS!!!! LOL (just kiddin)!!! The machinery that processes the mail can, and will crush seeds if not in a bubbleope, and sometimes in a bubbleope!!! As hectic as yer fall and winter may be (congrats on the new one on the way), the best time to aquire seeds. Watch seed exchange board in late fall and thru the winter, and lots of free seed offers will be available!!! Most growers are too busy this time of year, to deal w/ seed requests....growin and all, ya know! Peace, Wayne

Justin,
Just about any grower here will share seeds with you this fall if you send them a request letter talking a little about yourself and why you want their seeds, a bubble with a return address and either a stamp or postage dollars if outside the US.
Sending out seed requests is a great way to acquire good seeds before they are hot and a good way to get a relationship started with some good growers.
I recommend watching the diaries and weigh off results this fall. Get comfortable with the genetics and then request seeds this fall from good preforming fruit that exhibit the characteristics you like (big and orange or extra heavy to the chart etc).
Sometimes you can still get proven seeds from growers if they are fairly new, say as last years fruit that grew a few big ones this year!
Some of the heavy hitters get hundreds of seed requests and may not send you the seed you asked for and you need to understanding of that. Other growers will send you 2 or 3 of a requested seed and in a very short time you can develop a seed collection, of more than you can ever plant.
Alternately, you can purchase seeds packs or individual proven seeds from the various clubs that use this as a primary fundraiser for their weigh off events. There on line seed auctions here on BP, pretty well every Saturday night staring in December that go through until March.
I hope this helps John

The Wiz is such a bashful guy that he didn't mention it but you should join the RMGVG and they will send you a package full of seeds with proven genetics and you will also recieve two or three newsletter as well. The Wiz can help you join. I think it is still $25.00
