We have more seeds than we can grow in 2003 already, so this isn't a request for seeds. But did Charlie's pumpkin produce any viable seeds? I don't recall seeing anything much about these seeds. Trading wise that is.

Also, while they wouldn't be proven yet (like the 845 parents), would folks want to devote energy towards growing these if they're available? Are some of the Hitters going to be growing this one in the hopes of developing something?

Just curious.

I was graciously given a 1337.6 Houghton '02 at the NEPGA winter dinner.

It will be the focus of Pumpkin Cam this season.

Thanks again Charlie!

When you dont see a seed being traded it usually means one of three things....1.) there were no seeds avaiable. 2) they are highly coveted 3)No-one wants them.
The answer to the 1337 is: They are highly coveted. No-one's letting them go....they will be grown or held to see what its gonna do...an awesome seed on paper, generously spread across the world by a generous grower.......If you disagree....email me...I have seeds to trade for the 1337................G

I was fortunate enough to handle the 1337 when it was lifted on the scale and I consider it an honor that Mr. Houghton offered one to me this year. I have the seed in it;s own jar and would not trade it even for an 846..I was lucky to be part of weighing the new world record and it's just one of those special seeds that I will grow one year and hope that I can do it some little bit of justice because it wouldn't be right to just hold onto it as a souvenier. Generous growers like Charlie give out seed for people to plant, not collect and that's what I will do when the time and soil is right.
My 2 nickels.

I received some seeds from Charlie also (hope your feeling fine Charlie) and like Bill (stunner) I was there to help lift his monster on and off the scale (boy was that fun, ha) and will have one growing this summer because somebody's gotta do it. Only way to prove a seed is to grow it. Al

Cool.
That will be fun watching that baby grow. (I never thought I'd hear myself saying that LOL)
That would be an honor, to assist the lifting of that monster. Safely & with good insurance of course.

I can check the AGGC myself, but did he cross it or self?

The new pumpkin cam has been purchased. The total cost was covered by donations from growers on this site!! Thank you all very much! Once John gets it working he will be posting a page that shows what it looks like and it capabilities. We will also post an official "thank you" to all the people who chipped in for it. Thanks again!
