I have a question regarding seed genetics. My 840 Derosiers seed was self pollinated on an 805 Pukos. Since it was not crossed with any other plant. Does this mean that its genetics are the same as the 805 pukos or are they different?

Same. I plan to self it again to keep the strain as pure as possible. Probably a cross here or there too, but not at the expense of the self. Can you believe these Buc's?

Steve, I love the Buc's, but I hate their head coach, he looks looks like a whine baby.... BTW keep spreading the word on selfing to purify those individual genetics! My Grandfather allways told me to grow a few plants in the main garden just for selfed crop seeds, because the plants offspring would eventually evolve to become acclimated to the specific conditions of their environment and retain their genetics.

That Buc's defensive line...WOW! They played the way we should all grow! I agree with this approach entirely. Not to say crosses are bad. They're not. Especially when crossing 2 older purer lines. Then the potential for hybrid vigor may arise. But by sheer numbers, many folks cross successfully many gen's in a row. But then I think the consistency or predictability of the outcome & the ultimate possession of individual desirable traits is probably lessened. I've only proven this to myself with other crops. But my correspondance with Joe Ailts has affirmed this position in my mind anyway. Did I really just write that? Jeez!
