When requesting seeds from a grower. Please don't just give them a bubble pack. Thats just rude. Write a note and explain who you are. Describe yourself and get a personality. There where a few people that asked me for seeds. You're welcome to them. But common courtesy dictates that you at least introduce yourself and show a little motivation. If i've learned anything from my fellow growers in R.I. Is that the "golden Rule" applies to pumpkin growing. "treat others the way you want to be treated" the begginers that i'll be giving seeds to. I wish you luck and i hope you have fun with this new hobby.

I'm new to requesting seeds and sent out my first bubble the other day, I'm glad I used the correct protcol. These men and woman are taking there time to do something for you without needing to, writting a letter to establish a personality should be a top priority. Great post Kenny! I hope everyone, ecspecially newer growers like myself get a chance to read this.

The best thing to do when ASKING, that's the main thing here, ASKING for a seed is to contact the grower in some way form or fashion first. Most do it by email, send the grower an email FIRST speak with them, then ASK if you can grow one of there seeds. Don't lie about anything just ask. They will let you know if it's possible or NOT. Don't get let down with a no. The thing with seeds are this. For a new grower there are so many different things that need to be addressed, studyied and analized FIRST. I wouldn't even ask for a world class seed until I have grown for some time and feel comfortable with growing such a good seed, you may be waisting it LEARNING. Another thing is this, EVERYONE need not get so pissed when it come's to seeds. Most of the growers out here will NEVER get the request that a big hitter get's. I don't understand when a new grower ask for a seed, in maybe the wrong way EVERYONE JUMPS ALL OVER THE GUY. And most of these people are NOT big hitter's, just folks wanting to look like a hitter. I have never seen a big time grower jump on anyone, or anybody online NEVER for asking for a seed. I think we must remember new comers don't have the luxary of knowing what some of us know, there just trying to get a seed the ONLY way they know how. We time they will understand things and catch on like everyone else. I remember when I started I knew nothing, and feel I have come a long way, HOWEVER I did this with very nice and courtious people helping me and teaching me how to go about things. And the growers that spent the most time with me are WORLD CHAMPIONS. Heck some almost held my hand. The only growers that sent me some type of rude cheap shot, telling me I wasn't doing things perfectly, was growers I have never heard of and when I went back and check there stats they had grown a couple of 200 pounders.
