The 986 may be proven but its proven to produce orange.....generally not what you want for a squash contest.

Killer if you have heard that the 986 Hester* has produved green I would love to see one ! I grew the largest pumpkin ever off that seed and it was BRIGHT Yellow/orange. I think this seed has the potential to grow green but it has not done it yet ! the 895.5 Hester* and the 703 Smith* are your best shot !! there are not too many 895.5's out there but I know for sure there are more then 950 seeds out there from the 703* give it a try !! Hey Kevin, Here's my green cross for the coming season. Hester 895.5 x Smith 703. My pollinator for the 895 is going to be in a small area & I wanted to get the most out of it. Your 703 fits in perfectly.......Paul

Great to hear the 703* will get grown this year. I am very happy that there is so much interest in green producers. I have a 895.5 Hester* X 703* allready grown by Scott Goodpasture and a 744 Welty X 703* grown by Welty himself I just need to get them in the ground !! I will use the 703* as the male pollinator for most of my 2003 pumpkins we will have to see how well it does but I am really excited !! Kevin
