Tom, The 443 Desrosiers as weighed at the BigE weigh-off is the same pumpkin as the 444 Desrosiers. It lost a pound between the two weigh-offs I took it to. It was grown on a self-pollinated 300 Mongeon and was a nice orange color.

only one pound? I heard they lose at least 5 pounds a day in transit, but I figured out how to keep it from losing wieght. You just tape two milk jugs or soda bottles filled with water to any part of the vineyou leave on the pumpkin when you harvest it. Also, anything from a 300 mongeon has nice orange color, you picked the right seed for color. Good luck,
Tom

5 pounds a day! They have left it in the sun! I was very happy to see only 1 pound difference. In fact I only finished 2.7 pounds ahead of the next grower and I got the last money spot! (5th - See the Big-E 2000 Weigh-off page for a photo)

I will give seeds from everyone of my pumpkins and squash to big pumpkins.com, so be prepared to have 100 pounds off seeds in the fall. :)

I saw the pic. I must also coment on your 305.2, I liked the carving, it was simple but it was good. You can't over do a pretty pumpkin like that an elaborite carving would have ruined it, it was carved just right. My mom and I are thinking of doing a pumpkin regatta in a couple of years, do you have a banner or anything I could put up. After all I have learned from the site and all of the free seeds it's the least I could do.
bruiser, you're across the river from here are you interested? Maybe the race could be from my house to your house. lol
