Hi,
I just moved to a new home on 1 acre. I have always wanted to grow giant pumpkins.
The area I live in is Sacramento Calif.
Would love to get some seeds ASAP from large pumpkins 500lbs to grow.
Please advise. :) Rhonda

just want to let you know that a seed from a big pumpkin doesn't always produce a big pumpkin. They look more like thier grandparents han thier parents, therefore a seed from a 100 pound pumpkin that was grown from a 1000 pound pumpkin has a better chance of producing a 1000 pound pumpkin than a seed from a 1000 pound pumpkin that was grown from a seed from a 100 pound pumpkin.

Hi Farmer Tom,
That is really interesting. Can you recommend a good book for growing large pumpkins? I just started reading all the messages on this web page and I think that this is great.
I didn't know that their were other people like me who are
so fascinated by giant pumpkins.

How to Grow World Class Giant Pumpkins (Vol. 1 & 2), by Don Langevin are considered the "Bibles" of this hobby. They are well worth the cost, and will cover insects, diseases, fertilizer, and everything else to get you started growing the big one. Then all you need is good soil, seed ,(obtainable from this site for free annually)and a lot of luck!
