I asked some people to send me some big pumpkins seeds. It is very nice, so I want to give something to you. If you grow something else exept pumpkins, you can send me e-mail and I'll try to find and send you seeds. I have few kinds of decorative pumpkins and corn. If you are looking for it send-me an e-mail. I'll be pleased to help you if I can.

Nice offer man. By the way, I would like to make you a question: Do you have pumpkin contests in Poland?

Contests? In Poland? It is impossible! Pumpkin in poland is just a 'vegetable'. I think me and my friend are the only growers in Poland. There isn't even official polish record. You can't buy seeds of Giant pumpkins or decorative corn (but I have got some). Poland is not a 'pumpkin country' at all. Sad, but true :-(

If there´s noone else, so you can do it! Try to show your giants to as much people as possible in October. My 417 pumpkin from 2002 was in the newspaper and even on TV. Germany is no AG country either. Got my seeds from BP.com and other generous growers on this site. If you live in a rural area, that should be a good situation to start some competition between future growers. As for any kind of vegetable, who is not intending to yield a large crop? Maybe you´ll even find a company (fertilizer, agricultural engines etc.) as a sponsor or partner. However, AG´s are "vegetable" as well, only a little bigger. Look at the receipe board here on BP.

I would love to make pumpkins popular in Poland but I am only 13 and this is a problem. I run website about pumpkins, so I'll try to organize some type of contest, and every year in one news big thinks (pumpkins also) are shown, so if I'll grow something big I'll let the TV know.

Do not let your age determine what you can or can not do with pumpkins for contest. Sometimes things just need time (years) to catch on and grow.

Pumpkin lover, don't let your young a discourage you. At the Elk Grove Weigh off ( California) the young growers under 18 have some big pumpkins. I'll send you the numbers latter. Keep growing your pumpkins.

And a small child will lead them.....Ok, you're not a small child, but you can be the one responsible for starting something that's fun, new, & wholesome. Grow them big. Ask for help here whenever you need it. You are uniquely positioned to have a lot of fun with this & go down in "pumpkin history".
