I believe the biggest from the 255 thus far is the Edwards 267. 255 Mitchell seeds are still available for $5 each. The 239's WERE at $25 each, now gone. So I'll have to pass on an even trade...

LOL...No problem Mark. I would of passed on the 3 to 1 trade anyway. The 255 may be the seed to have in 2 years, (most in Michigan think it is the seed to have now) but the top seed to have right now is the 239. Good luck trading your 255 for a 239...

Im sorry I wasnt trying to hustle anybody out of there 25$ seed.Im looking for the person who wont grow there 239 maybe they won it in a raffle or whatever there not interested in Melons.I think the 255 is worth 25$ now and I promise it will be in 2 years.Good investment buy at 5$ now they be 25$ real soon.LOL

I also thought somebody might have 4 or 5 239s & want to cross with the 255 so we could trade even up Does it have to be about MONEY!!!These auctions have done just that he with biggest wallet gets biggest seed.Congrats to Pt.Elgins raffle where a poor man can get a big seed.I will be buying some of those tickets.I remember Bill Bobier giving me a 723 &George Llyod Giving me 935s I toured his patch with my wife & kids & he rolled out the red carpet.He put us up in a Motel & made us breakfast.Now its who do I have to sleep with to a 239 melon.Cyndi Lauper was right.LOL

I hear you mark, I also was able to obtain great AG seeds back 10 years ago. Now I can't afford them LOL. Back then at auctions $200 was ALOT for a seed, now seems to be pretty common. I think $250 was the highest selling seed in 2000. Now look at it. Supply and demand I guess, lots more people growing now than there were 10 years ago. I hope watermelon seeds don't follow that trend.
You're right, 255 X 239 sounds killer. Hopefully you can get hold of a few 239's to do that cross, maybe you'll win the melon lot on OGVG raffle, there will be a few at some upcoming auctions too, the last ones auctiond brought $100 for 3 seeds. I will keep you in mind and could POSSIBLY send a couple 239's next Spring if you don't have any luck finding them. If you'll do the cross and send me some of the seeds. I also plan to have an auction after all the clubs are done. We need to raise money for a electronic scoreboard for our local Little League Baseball Park. There will be 239's in that auction also...

Thanks Dwight,When I do the cross 255x239 seeds will be free to all growers who will grow them or trade them not to make money with.If I sell a seed that was given to me to grow, I should jump in the compost pile & become the worm that I would be.Thanks for the offers I will contact you
