Linden, Mi.,

Can any one tell me just what a proven seed is ?
(Example 200 lb. Watermelon seed)

1. A,seed that grows 3 or 4 or more big fruit ?
2. A seed that grows, big or little (just grows)?
3. A seed that grows a bigger fruit then the 200 lb. seed ?

tc, IMHO...we are awl still in, on the upside of the learning curve on "proven seeds" from a CC!!!...maybe getting close to the top of the curve...but not like the AG Legend!!! Stay tuned!!! AG's have grown new WR's for several years in a row (except one, I think) & CC's have just recently started to explode in size!!! (After having been sorta stagnant for a long time)!!! Peace, Wayne
PS...good thing is...sorta, maybe?...just ask & you can maybe, might, if yer lucky & nice... get one!!! LOL
Ps...never heard of a melon w/ 18 seeds!!! Know what I mean?

In the past it has proven over and over it is a worthy seed. 898Knauss, 723 845 Bobier, 1068 Wallace, to name a few have proven when grown to have very good results. aggc site and if you start at the top and look at the family tree you can see as you work your way down, some of the same seeds used in all the trees, they are proven or chosen by the grower because they produce.

If you look back at the weigh off records and see a seed in the top twenty or ten watermelons for that year I would say its proven it can grow large melons. Now that watermelons are gaining huge growerships it might widen.

I used watermelon seeds as an example only.
What I was asking is, what makes a proven seed.
Is it one of my three (1,2,3)or is there another factor ?

A proven seed is all seeds from a particular fruit that has in the past proven it's good genetics by having grown several large and heavy to the chart new fruit.this makes your chances of growing a larg fruit better than growing a seed with no track record.
