Chris, there is no special seed for cooler climates. I think being 3 miles for the shore up in LA should be a great climate for growing. You're unlimited in what seed to grow. I'm guessing your average temps are near 70°-75° which shouldn't be a problem. Our problem here in southern California is the shorter daylight hours compared to our fellow growers to the north and also if you are further inland then heat becomes an issue too. Just get a seed with good genetics and give it a shot.

for no particular reason a california seed from your area may be the way to go.
i do know that some seeds seem to grow better in temps simular to where they were grown.
however, if you get a good one, that special seed, it will grow just about everywhere so long as the weather is decent.

Thanks Pap!I don't know of any growers in this area but seems like a really great idea having seeds from my climate.I'll keep fishing around.

Chris, go to home page here on bp.com, click on links, and look thru the list....quite possible that more than one California, or PNW growers clubs will be listed? This might be a quick way to contact folks in yer area!!! Or, search thru diaries...and see if you find anyone from yer area...then at the top of the diary page...click on the lil envelope to contact that specific grower!!! Hope this helps!!! Peace, Wayne

Chris, Jims 980 would be a great seed to grow. Jim and I will both be growing a 980 next year.
